Cancer Resource Center

The Cancer Resource Center is available to kids and adults in the Yuma community who are undergoing cancer treatment. Operated 100 percent by a dedicated volunteer staff and made possible by generous donations from our community, the center provides patients with free resources to ease the burden of cancer treatment. The Cancer Resource Center is located on the second floor of the Onvida Health Cancer Center. For more information, call 928-336-4969.

Thanks to our generous donors, the center provides patients with free resources such as:

Blankets

Each new patient who visits the Center receives a handmade blanket (one-time only) donated by members of our community. These blankets help keep patients warm and provide comfort during infusion and radiation treatments.

Bras and Prosthetics

The Cancer Resource Center can provide qualified patients with bras and/or prosthetics. The Center features a private fitting room and knowledgeable staff to help patients with size selection.

Creating Renowned Confidence Classes

The Creating Renowned Confidence Classes teach beauty techniques to women currently undergoing cancer treatment. Women receive a free cosmetic kit and makeover including tips on skin care, nail care and make-up. They are also taught to use wigs, hats and turbans by a licensed volunteer cosmetologist.

Gas Certificates

Patients may receive gas certificates, to be used at local Chevron stations, once a month to help cover the costs of transportation to and from appointments. These certificates are made available through Yuma community donations and grants.

Head Coverings

Patients are provided with head coverings including wigs, hats, scarves and turbans to make them feel as normal as possible when suffering the side effects of hair loss from treatment. Volunteers not only help patients find the right covering to fit their personality, but also educate them on how to properly care for it. Many of the hats, scarves and turbans are made and donated by individuals in our community.

Supplemental Nutrition

Cancer treatment often alters a patient’s diet. The Center provides patients with liquid nutrition, to help them maintain their body weight and strength while going through treatment, as approved by their provider.
