Vision for a Healthier Tomorrow

Over the last several years, you may have noticed many changes at Onvida Health. This transformation is purposeful and driven by the deep desire to improve access to healthcare in our community for our family, friends and neighbors. We are committed to continuing our work to expand high-quality care close to home. Please join us as we take this opportunity to share the highlights of our vision – the how and the why.

Delivering the best care begins with understanding where we need to improve. So you may wonder, “How does Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) know where to focus efforts?” Every three years YRMC conducts a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). This assessment analyzes local and statewide data, but more importantly, it incorporates feedback from more than 700 Yuma community residents. The result is a top prioritized health needs report that helps YRMC refocus its strategies and guides the roadmap of Yuma’s healthcare future.

Since the completion of our 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment, we have made great strides to improve access to care and deliver on our vision to grow and expand high priority services, two identified areas of need in the assessment. While much more is on the horizon, here are just a few recent advancements:

YRMC Behavioral Health Center
(Opened February 6, 2023)

Expands access to crucial inpatient mental and behavioral health services in Yuma while minimizing the need to travel elsewhere for care.

  • 24-bed facility (opened with 12 beds and will expand to full capacity this year)
  • Provides inpatient, short term, adult psychiatric care
  • Future expansion of behavioral health services includes a senior inpatient care facility and adult medical detox programs

YRMC Foothills Health Campus
(Opening Spring 2023)

A common theme we heard from the Community Health Needs Assessment was a necessity for comprehensive care options in East County. This new facility will let a patient seeing their primary care provider easily complete their lab work or have an X-ray taken, then pick up a prescription, all within the comfort and convenience of the same building.

The two-story facility will feature:

  • Emergency services
  • Primary care
  • Specialty care
  • Imaging services
  • Retail pharmacy

Development of Healthcare Career Pipeline
(Ongoing Effort)

High quality care requires a high-quality team. To attract, train and retain the best in the region, YRMC has continually introduced programs to develop individuals looking to enter a career in healthcare and provided ongoing medical education to those already in the field. While we have many partners in this effort, our partnership with Arizona Western College will be one that elevates our ability to keep the best and brightest here in Yuma. We will be sharing some exciting announcements in 2023 as we advance opportunities for Yuma residents to train for a number of healthcare related careers in both clinical and administrative roles.

Stay tuned as we continue to share ways in which we are honoring our commitment to our community. Like you, we believe in a healthier tomorrow for Yuma County. To learn more, visit webelieve.yumaregional.org
