Discover your best life with weight-loss surgery.
Do you dream of a life with more energy? Do you wish you could reduce or eliminate medications for medical conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure?
Onvida Health’s Bariatric Surgery Program offers surgical weight-loss options that can help your dreams become reality.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), morbid obesity is the number one health problem in the U.S. A BMI of over 30 can mean increased health risks. People suffering from morbid obesity, with a BMI of over 35, may not only experience life-threatening health issues but many other chronic health issues as well, coupled with emotional struggles.
Sometimes, diet and exercise may not be enough to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Our caring team of experts will help you explore the surgical weight-loss option that is best for you and will walk the journey with you, through post-surgery care and beyond. Each minimally invasive, robotic-assisted surgery procedure uses small incisions that mean less scarring, shorter hospital stays, enhanced safety and faster recovery for you.
Before a weight-loss procedure at Onvida Health, our team will assist candidates with the insurance required work up and provide essential information and education for your journey, setting you up for long-term success. To get started, fill out the Patient History Questionnaire or attend an upcoming seminar.

Find your BMI.
To learn if bariatric surgery is right for you, a good place to start is by calculating your BMI (body mass index). This calculation measures your weight in relation to your height and is a good indicator of healthy weight for both men and women.

Conditions and Services
We understand the emotional and physical struggles of obesity and that sometimes, diet and exercise may not be enough to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. You may be a candidate for weight-loss surgery based on the below conditions.
- BMI > 40
- BMI > 35-40 with a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea or heart disease
We offer the latest technologies and techniques in bariatric surgery. Our options include, but are not limited to:
This procedure permanently reshapes your stomach into a long, thin pouch that limits the amount of food you can eat at one time. You will feel full sooner and longer. Food passes through the digestive tract in the usual manner. As you eat less food, your body will stop storing excess calories and start using fat supply for energy.
During this procedure, your surgeon creates a small pouch at the top of the stomach that makes a new path for your food, bypassing much of the stomach. This affects how your body weight is regulated in two ways. First, you will be satisfied with very small meal portions. Secondly, you will absorb less calories due to the bypassed portion of your stomach and intestines.
Lap Band, or adjustable gastric band, was once the most popular bariatric procedure in the U.S. However, some patients developed an intolerance to the band, resulting in issues such as excessive nausea and vomiting, difficulty swallowing and pain after eating, so use of the Lap Band has decreased.
Our bariatric surgery team can remove your band if you suffer from these symptoms. However, without another procedure, you are likely to regain weight. You can have gastric bypass or gastric sleeve surgery here at Onvida Health six months after band removal.
