The McDaniel Endowment Fund was established by Richard Michael McDaniel in memory of his parents, Ted and Stella McDaniel and in honor of the cancer care he received at Onvida Health. Mr. McDaniel left a generous legacy to the Foundation to further medical education in Yuma County.

McDaniel Endowment Fund scholarships may be utilized for medical students, physicians, nursing or other scholarships that are directly related to cancer care. This can include scholarships for technicians in fields that directly support cancer care, persons pursuing advanced degrees in palliative care and others. Applicants must commit to serving the community of Yuma for at least one (1) year following the Scholarship award period.

Applications must be submitted online by 5:00 p.m. MST on December 6, 2024.

Applicants cannot apply for funds that are eligible for reimbursement under the Onvida Health Education Assistance Program. All applicants who are currently employed by Onvida Health must indicate whether they’ve applied for Education Assistance, how much they received and justify the scholarship request based on the difference between the amount they’ve received and the total costs of their tuition. Documentation must be provided. Only costs associated with tuition and course fees will be considered. Fees for books, course materials, etc., cannot be included.

Applications will be accepted from individuals who are accepted to or currently enrolled in programs directly related to cancer care. The Committee will accept Scholarship requests ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. The number of Scholarships awarded will vary depending on the number of requests received.

Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or greater in order to apply. Email any questions or concerns to Foundation@onvidahealth.org.
