About Lora Dana

A third generation Yuman, Lora Dana’s grandparents migrated to Arizona in the early 1900s. Deeply embedded in the local community, Lora is a graduate of Kofa High School, an alumnus of Arizona Western College and a local business owner. While running her own successful advertising agency and the local Honda dealership for 21 years, Lora raised three daughters, two stepsons and has 15 grandchildren. Always creative, Lora painted murals in her children’s bedrooms when they were young. As her businesses grew, and her life grew more hectic, she stopped painting. A diagnosis in 2010 of stage four ovarian cancer changed Lora’s perspective. While in remission, she returned to painting on canvas as a way to relax and refocus. She learned to savor each moment in life. Lora’s artwork reflects her outlook on life, and is both colorful and whimsical. Lora has found a new audience who appreciates her unique perspective on the world around us. Lora says, “I love color and the simple things as you see in my paintings. The animals put a smile on my face as well as the flowers full of color.” Lora has been cancer free for 13 years. However, her husband, Brent received a diagnosis of non small cell lung cancer in 2016. She says that his passing away has only strengthened her commitment to the Cancer Center and brought it closer to her heart.

“Throughout my journey as a cancer survivor, painting has become my therapy. Knowing that my finished pieces are helping brighten another person’s day is beyond special.”
