Onvida Health, formerly Yuma Regional Medical Center, announces President and CEO Dr. Robert Trenschel has been appointed chairman of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association’s (AzHHA) Board of Directors. This prestigious role puts Yuma in the heart of statewide healthcare conversations, ensuring the community’s voice is heard as leaders address important healthcare challenges across Arizona.

With more than 20 years of experience as a physician, medical educator and healthcare executive, Dr. Trenschel has positioned Yuma as a model of compassionate, high-quality care through his leadership at Onvida Health. In the last decade, Dr. Trenschel has helped transform the organization, encouraging an employee-led culture focusing on innovation and collaboration. His commitment to progress is evident in his support of building one of the state’s busiest robotic surgical programs. He is an advocate for healthcare career advancement and education, spearheading a unique and pivotal partnership with Arizona Western College to build a state-of-the-art Health Career Center. Dr. Trenschel’s visionary leadership was recognized in 2021 with the prestigious national Baldrige Foundation Award for Leadership Excellence. As he steps into his new role with AzHHA in December 2024, he will lead healthcare leaders from across the state in working together to improve healthcare policies and create programs that enhance the lives of all Arizonans.

Dr. Trenschel’s new role as chairman highlights Onvida Health’s commitment to being an active voice in shaping the future of healthcare at the state level, while bringing fresh perspectives from Yuma’s dynamic community to the table.
